Qualifying Week – Day 3

The continuing saga of those running for office, as we reach the midpoint of Qualifying Week — and as usual, the middle of the week has few surprises.

Hillsborough County Commission, District 6
The biggest news of the day: Joe Redner has filed for county commission. Well, the race suddenly gets interesting. Sure, Brian Blair – the Republican incumbent – beat Democratic Stalwart Bob Buckhorn four years ago … but things have changed in four years, especially for those on the ballot with [REP] next to their name.

Of course, Denise Layne – may not want to see Redner. She ran against him (when Joe was a No Party Affiliation candidate) for County Commission District 7 in 2006 — losing to Mark Sharpe.

Only two more days for candidates to officially toss their hats in the ring.

One Response to Qualifying Week – Day 3

Just read an article about Redner this past week. Interesting that he’s headed in the brewery restaurant direction…maybe trying to water down his image for the upcoming race. He’s certainly not pleasing that community, though.
