November 27, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Today is the day we set aside to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives, large or small. Here are the things for which I am thankful.

The news broke today on media sites that a Miami Circuit Court Judge has ruled Florida’s law banning homosexual from adopting children is unconstitutional.
This issue wasn’t really one of principal, because this was a real case of custody for two foster children who have been cared for by two homosexual men for four years. [...]

November 22, 2008 | 2 Comments
On Friday, Chris Cillizza posted his 10 Republicans to watch for 2012 on The Fix:
To be clear, this is not — and should not be taken as — a list of potential contenders to take on Barack Obama in 2012. Some of the people on this list will certainly be in the Republican field in [...]

Florida House Pecking Order
November 19, 2008 | 2 Comments
This week, the Florida House of Representatives officially swore Representative Ray Sansom (R-Destin) as Speaker of the House. But for Republicans, the next two - and maybe three - speakers are already known. Sansom’s term runs from 2008 to 2010.
Following Sansom will be Representative Dean Cannon (R-Winter Park) [2010-2012] and then Representative Will [...]

I asked myself a few questions as a Republican…
November 18, 2008 | 2 Comments
What are the lessons you learned from the 2008 McCain campaign in Bay County, Florida?

Time to “Rebuild the Party”
November 6, 2008 | 3 Comments
A coalition is forming led by some great future thinkers in the Republican Party: Patrick Ruffini, Erick Erickson, Justin Sayfie, Michael Turk, Mindy Finn, and more.
It’s called Rebuild the Party:
As Republicans, we face a choice.
Either we can spend the next several months — or years — trying to figure out what just happened, excusing our [...]

State of Sunshine Called the Numbers: 364 to 174
November 5, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Last week, I published a post predicting the electoral college breakdown and a win for Barack Obama. The map shows a total of 364 electoral votes for Obama and 174 votes for John McCain.
And that looks like how it will come out.
CNN shows Obama with 349 and McCain with 163, and Missouri and North [...]

Republicans Hold Serve in State Legislature
November 5, 2008 | 1 Comment
Here is something amazing:
Florida voted for Barack Obama for president - the first Democrat to win since Bill Clinton in 1996 and the first northern Democrat since FDR in 1994.
Florida also ousted two Republican Congressmen: Tom Feeney and Rick Keller.
Hillsborough County voters sent Republican incumbent County Commissioner Brian Blair packing.
The mood was anti-incumbent, and anti-Republican.
Except [...]

Charles Mahtesian has a list of 25 Counties to Watch Tonight on Politico. Among them, our own Hillsborough County, Florida:
